Baseball: Montgomery goes to Cleveland in draft

The second day of the MLB draft has Tim Montgomery taken by the Indians and five more Rainbow recruits picked.

HONOLULU - University of Hawai`i centerfielder Timothy Montgomery and five more UH recruits were picked in the second and final day of the Major League Baseball draft Wednesday.

Montgomery was taken in the 23rd round by the Cleveland Indians with the 678th overall pick. He finished the 2003 season with a .245 batting average, while leading the team with nine home runs.

The five UH recruits that were taken were Travis Denker (Los Angeles Dodgers, 21st round, 631st pick overall), Kala Ka`aihue (Boston Red Sox, 22nd round, 654th pick overall), Evan MacLane (New York Mets, 25th round, 739th pick overall), Steven Wright (San Diego Padres, 26th round, 761st pick overall) and Matthew Buck (Montreal Expos, 30th round, 897th pick overall).
