Committee Formed In Search of New Coach

The University of Hawaii announced an eight-person committee who will advise the hiring process for the Rainbow Warriors' new football coach.

In search of the Rainbow Warriors next head football coach, University of Hawaii at Manoa (UHM) Athletics Director David Matlin has announced his eight-person advisory group. Throughout the hiring process, Matlin and the advisory committee will work closely together. Matlin will be accountable for the final recommendation to Chancellor Robert Bley-Vorman.

Currently, the Athletics Department has announced that they have received more than 50 applicants and have begun the process of reviewing each application.

The group members are:

Carl Clapp – Associate Athletics Director, UHM Athletics Department

Dan Harris-McCoy – Assistant Professor, Classics, UHM Languages & Literature of Europe and Americas; Chair of the Faculty Senate Committee on Athletics, Member of Athletics Advisory Board

Lori Ideta –Vice Chancellor for Students, UHM

Eric Okasaki – Head Athletic Trainer, UHM Athletics Department

Amanda Paterson – Director of Compliance, UHM Athletics Department

Roxie Shabazz – Assistant Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management and Director of Admissions, UHM

Mike Trapasso – Head Baseball Coach, UHM Athletics Department

Hugh Yoshida – ‘Ahahui Koa Anuenue Chair & Former Athletics Director, UHM Athletics Department

Paula Nishimoto - UHM Athletics Department Human Resources Specialist who will also help guide the hiring process.
