Linebackers Coach Sean Duggan
Kyle Soelle is a two-way athlete, playing at both outside linebacker and tight end. Most schools, including Hawaii, are recruiting him to play outside linebacker. Soelle's strength comes on the blitz. He is a pass-rushing backer who likes to come off the edge and get to the quarterback. That being said, he is also a well-rounded athlete and is more than capable of dropping into coverage when called.
Soelle's first scholarship offer came less than two months ago from none other than the Hawaii Warriors. Since then, he has added five more Mountain West scholarship offers, as well as Army. He recently took unofficial visits to in-state schools Arizona and Arizona State and is hopeful that one of the programs will pull the trigger.
Since last season, Soelle transferred from Notre Dame Prep to Sagauro High School. Hawaii Head Coach Nick Rolovich made a splash by offering five recruits all from his same school. Other offers were extended to four-star offensive lineman Kayden Lyles, three-star cornerback K.J. Jarrell, three-star tight end Jared Poplawski and two-star offensive lineman Jax Wacaser. Landing even one of the five would help Rolovich establish a pipeline at the Arizona powerhouse high school.
One of Soelle's top college priorities is academics and he is hoping to land himself at a school known for its business programs.
“(Hawaii was) my first offer, so it kind of stays at heart,” Soelle said. “It’s always in the back of my mind. It’s a special one in my mind.”
