Football: Cockeran, Dickerson receive WAC honors

Jeremiah Cockeran and Ross Dickerson honored by the WAC for their play in Hawaii's win over Appalachian State.

DENVER – Hawaii receiver Jeremiah Cockheran and kick returner Ross Dickerson were named the Western Athletic Conference offensive and special teams players of the week, respectively.

Cockheran, a senior from Fontana, Calif, caught seven passes for 154 yards and three touchdowns in the Warriors 40-17 win over Appalachian State. Cockheran caught touchdown passes of 18, 54 and 35 yards which tied a school record for scoring receptions in a game.

Dickerson, a freshman from St. Louis School, returned three kickoffs for 140 yards, including one for a 100-yard touchdown in the Warriors' win. It was Hawai‘i's first kickoff return for a touchdown since the 2001 season.

Hawaii has a bye this week before they travel to number four ranked USC on Saturday, September 13.
