Baseball: Carlsen gets weekly honor

Clary Carlsen is named the WAC Pitcher of the Week for his complete game victory over Louisiana Tech on the road this past Saturday.

DENVER –Hawai‘i right-handed pitcher Clary Carlsen has been named the Western Athletic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week, for March 22-28.

Carlsen, a senior from Poulsbo, Wash., pitched his first career complete-game in Hawai‘i's 8-1 win at Louisiana Tech on Saturday. Carlsen allowed one unearned run on six hits and no walks while striking out four. He improved to 5-3 on the season with a 3.31 ERA.

It is Carlsen's first career WAC Pitcher of the Week award and second for a Rainbow this season.

Hawaii returns to Murakami Stadium this Friday evening when they open up a three game series with the Spartans of San Jose State. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
