Wahine Volleyball: Hawaii 13th in preseason poll

The first preseason volleyball rankings are out and Hawaii is 13th according to the coaches around the country.

The first women's volleyball poll is out and the University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine check in at lucky number 13.

The USA Today/CSTV Top 25 Coaches preseason poll has two-time defending national champion USC at the top of the preseason rankings, receiving 56 of the 65 first place votes.

Six 2004 Wahine opponents are also ranked in the Top 25. UCLA is third, Pepperdine is ninth, California is 10th, Arizona is 17th, Santa Clara is 22nd and Utah rounds out the ranked teams at number 24.

The Wahine return only one starter, NCAA Freshman of the Year Kanoe Kamanao, off a team that advanced to the NCAA national semi-finals last season.

Hawaii opens the season Thursday, September 2nd against Eastern Washington.
