Warriors Must Improve From Exhibition Performance

HONOLULU - The University of Alberta swept Hawai`i this afternoon 30-26, 30-22, 30-23 in an exhibition match at the Stan Sheriff Center before a crowd of 936 (3,569 tickets issued).

The Golden Bears hit .375 as a team led by solid outings from both Dallas Soonias and Nicholas Cundy. Soonias put down a team-high 13 kills, while hitting .353, and Cundy slammed 12 kills and hit .409 for the match.

Hawai`i's Pedro Azenha led all hitters with 22 kills while hitting .400 on the afternoon. Hawai`i officially opens the 2005 season next week at the SSC with the 11th Annual Outrigger Hotels Invitational. The three-day tournament runs Jan. 5-7 with three of the four teams from the 2004 NCAA Championship in attendance - Brigham Young, Penn State, and Lewis.
