Warriors hosts Tulsa

HONOLULU - The Hawai'i men's basketball team concludes the first round of Western Athletic Conference play by hosting nemesis Tulsa, Saturday, Jan. 29. Tip-off for the annual "White-Out" game is set for 7:05 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center.

This Week's Matchup The Rainbow Warriors pulled out a dramatic 75-72 overtime victory over Rice on Thursday. Sophomore Bobby Nash was the hero once again, converting a four-point play with 15.5 seconds remaining. Nash also hit the game-winner at the buzzer in a victory over Oral Roberts earlier this season.

The Golden Hurricane suffered a 76-69 loss to San Jose State on Thursday. The loss dropped Tulsa to 1-7 in WAC play and its worst start ever in the conference.

The annual series between the schools have produced exciting competition. UH has won the last four meetings in Honolulu. Tulsa will leave the conference next season to join Conference USA. Last season UH swept the season series with a thrilling 73-71 double overtime victory at Tulsa and a 92-62 blow-out win in Honolulu.

Game Update UH is 5-0 in "White-Out" games since its introduction in 2002...the 'Bows are 10-1 at home this season...six of UH's eight WAC games have been decided by four points or less...UH guard Jake Sottos is averaging 15.6 ppg in the last five games.

Promotion: The UH Sports Marketing Department is promoting the game as a "White-Out" as all fans in attendance are encouraged to wear white shirts.

This Week's Opponent: Tulsa The Golden Hurricane are led the by the duo of forward Jarius Glenn and center Anthony Price. Glenn leads the team in three different categories including scoring (16.5), rebounding (7.3), and assists (3.5). Price is averaging 15.1 ppg and 4.8 rpg. Earlier this season, the junior set a career-high with 39 points in a home loss to SMU.

Tulsa starts a pair of freshmen in the backcourt - Brett McDade and Deion James. McDade has been on a tear lately, averaging 15.7 ppg in his last three outings. The Golden Hurricane is averaging 70.4 ppg, while shooting 45.1 percent from the field. Interim head coach Alvin "Pooh" Williamson took over the program after coach John Phillips resigned on Christmas Day.

Last Meeting: All 13 UH players in uniform saw action in a 92-62 rout of the Golden Hurricane. The 30-point win was the largest margin of victory in the series. UH out-scored Tulsa 51-30 in the second half. Guard Michael Kuebler led all players with 21 points.
