Ashley Lelie was supposed to be an Atlanta Falcon.

Atlanta, in need of speed at wide receiver, could have made the former University of Hawaii standout their deep threat of the moment Saturday. Instead, the Falcons scooped up running back D.J. Duckett of Michigan State with the No. 18 pick in the draft.

Going to Atlanta would have been sweet for Lelie; his family lives in South Carolina.

Atlanta drafted Michael Vick with their first-round pick last year, and Vick is one of the NFL's most promising quarterbacks. He would have teamed with Lelie for one of the youngest, most explosive quarterback-receiver duos in the league. However, Atlanta is on unstable ground at running back with Jamal Anderson recovering from another knee injury.

So Lelie and Hawaii fans are watching and waiting.
