HONOLULU – Men's basketball coach Riley Wallace appears likely to return to the University of Hawaii basketball program next year.

"We have a verbal commitment," Wallace told RSN Friday morning.

Wallace said that his agent is still looking over the contract, but he has yet to receive it.  However, Wallace sounded optimistic that the two sides have little left to work out.

Wallace has led the men's basketball team to back-to-back Western Athletic Conference titles and NCAA tournament appearances.  He has guided the team to two straight 20-win seasons, and the 27 wins by the team during the 2001-2002 campaign is a school record.  Despite his amazing success, Wallace remained one of the lowest paid head coaches in the WAC.
