Former St. Louis head coach Cal Lee has been offered a position on the UH football staff. Hawaii coach June Jones, a long-time friend of Lee, created the position of recruiting coordinator, a non-coaching position that pays approximately $60,000 a year. Lee, with his strong local roots and keen eye for talent, seems to be a perfect fit. However, the Honolulu Advertiser has reported some circumstances that might keep Lee away from the Warriors.
First and foremost, Lee is still the athletic director at St. Louis school. His ties and loyalty to the school, along with the annual salary of over $100,000, is a hard thing to leave. Also, the Advertiser reported that Lee has been offered a job to coach an arena league football team. Lee has a lot of options, and he will take his time to do what is right by himself and his family. No matter where he goes, one can expect him to be a success.
