The start of fall camp offers new wrinkles, including a two-ring circus of sorts for the University of Hawaii defensive linemen. Balance, explosion, speed … the work never ends for D-Line coach Vantz Singletary's troops.

Garrett Dearing (52), a redshirt freshman from Hilo High School, runs the rings with
junior Houston Ala (Kamehameha Schools).

Isaac Sopoaga (97) runs the drill with a player whose number is not listed on the fall roster. Number 79 is probably Kamehameha Schools graduate and UH freshman Albert Ma'afala.

Lance Samuseva (92, junior, Farrington High School) hustles with Lui Fuga (99, junior, Waipahu High School, UNLV transfer).

Ala makes the round between rings.

Ripping through resistance.

Sopoaga displays strength, speed and balance.

Purcell is under the watchful eye of Singletary.
