Wahine volleyball: Gustin out indefinitely

All-conference middle blocker diagnosed with a stress fracture.

When the third ranked University of Hawaii Wahine volleyball team faces Cal Poly beginning tomorrow, they will be without the services of middle blocker Maja Gustin.

Gustin has been diagnosed with a stress fracture in her left foot and is out indefinitely. The two-time all-WAC performer was moved back to her natural middle position after spending last year on the outside. Gustin hasn't played in the teams last three matches and played sparingly in the first three matches of the season.

Team physician Dr. Andrew Nichols said his staff will continue to evaluate Gustin and is hopeful of a quick return.

Head coach Dave Shoji has had the benefit of a deep bench and will continue to use Karin Lundquist and Melody Eckmier in place of Gustin.
