Basketball: Wahine picked third by coaches

Louisiana Tech is the preseason favorite of the WAC coaches.

The Western Athletic Conference coaches think the University of Hawaii Wahine basketball team will finish third in the 10 team league. That according to the preseason poll released today along with the all-WAC teams.

 

Defending regular season tournament champion Louisiana Tech is expected to repeat, receiving votes from nine of the ten coaches. Lady Techster Cheryl Ford is the preseason favorite for player of the year honors.

 

Louisiana Tech led the preseason All-WAC team with two selections. Hawaii had no first team selections, but had two second team players in guard April Atuaia and center Christen Roper.

 

The Wahine open their season Nov. 23rd against UCLA at home.
