Soccer: Kai is WAC's best

Rainbow Wahine forward Natasha Kai named Player and Freshman of the Year, four other Wahine receive post season awards as well.

Rainbow Wahine forward Natasha Kai was rewarded for her record breaking season by being named the Western Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year and Player of the Year on Tuesday. It is the first time that the same player has won both awards in the same season.

 

Kai scored 10 goals in conference play, breaking the old mark of nine, and also scored 23 points in conference, which is also a new WAC mark Kai also scored four game winning goals for the Wahine.

 

Joining Kai on the first team is teammate Erin Quattromani. The senior midfielder set a WAC record for assist with seven in conference play.

 

Three Wahine were named to the second team. They are senior forward Arlene Devitt, senior defender Noelle Takemoto and freshman goalkeeper Mahie Atay.

 

Hawaii is in Houston this week for the WAC Championship tournament where they will play Rice on Thursday.
