Volleyball: Wahine spike La. Tech

Hawaii will face San Jose State next after easy three game win against La. Tech at the WAC Tournament in Reno.

Reno- The second ranked Wahine made quick work of Louisiana Tech in three straight Friday afternoon in opening round action of the 2002 WAC Volleyball Tournament in Reno.

 

Hawaii improved to 26-1 on the season with a 30-13, 30-19, 30-16 win over the Lady Techsters (19-16), who had already made flight arrangements yesterday to return to Ruston tomorrow.

 

Hawaii will face San Jose State on Saturday after the Spartans defeated Rice in five games, 30-32, 30-26, 30-28, 23-30, 15-9.

 

The number one seeded Wahine were paced by Kim Willoughby and Lily Kahumoku, who each had 16 kills. Lauren Duggins contributed seven kills and six blocks while Maja Gustin added eight kills of her own.

 

Hawaii hit .495 for the match while out blocking Louisiana Tech 10-1.
