Warrior Volleyball: Hawaii dumps Ball State

The Men of War remain unbeaten with a three game sweep of the Cardinals.

The top ranked University of Hawaii Warrior volleyball team got offensive support from an unlikely source Friday night to help them fend off Ball State at the Outrigger Invitational.

Josh Stanhiser matched his season total output for kills with 12, in leading Hawaii to a 31-29, 30-28, 30-25 victory over the seventh ranked Cardinals. With the win, Hawaii improved their overall record to 4-0 and are 2-0 in the Outrigger Invitational. Ball State is 2-1 and 0-2 in the Invitational.

The Warriors Costas Theocharidis continued his torrid hitting with a match high 15 kills and only one error and Delano Thomas added 11 kills of his own.

Jary Delgado and Kyle Weindel each had 14 kills to pace the Cardinals offense.

Hawaii will face Shanghai Oriental of China in Saturday evenings championship match.

Prior to the first serve there will be a brief ceremony for the unveiling of the Warriors 2002 National Championship banner.
