Hawaii will play at Arizona State on Thursday, March 20 at Wells Fargo Arena in the first round of Women's National Invitation Tournament. It's the fourth straight appearance in the post-season tournament for the Rainbow Wahine who finished the regular season with a 16-13 record.
UH lost WNIT first round games at Saint Mary's in 2000 and Oregon State in 2002 and advanced all the way to the semifinals in 2001 before falling at New Mexico.
Arizona State finished the regular season with a 15-13 overall record, the team's third consecutive winning season, and ended up eighth in the league with a 7-11 Pac-10 mark.
The winner of Thursday's night game between ASU and Hawaii will face the winner of a first-round match-up between Northern Iowa (18-10) and Baylor (20-10), being played in Waco, Texas, on Thursday. Dates and locations of second-round games will be determined after each game.
The WNIT features a field of 32 teams in a single-elimination format. All games, including the semifinals and championship game, will be hosted by participating schools at on-campus sites
