Warrior Volleyball: Ching named national P.O.W.

Warrior outside hitter Tony Ching named National Player of the Week after leading Hawaii to a weekend sweep of UCLA.

Tony Ching, a 6-2 senior outside hitter for second-ranked University of Hawai'i (15-5, 9-5 MPSF), has been selected the AVCA/Sports Imports Division I/II Men's National Player of the Week after leading the Warriors to two 3-1 victories and their first-ever road sweep of eighth-ranked UCLA. He opened the week by recording 17 kills on a match-high .682 attack percentage, committing only two errors in 22 swings. Ching also tied the team high in blocks with five and recorded two aces and seven digs in that match. The next night he posted 19 kills on a .607 attack percentage and a match-high four service aces. On the week Ching averaged 4.50 kills per game, surpassing his current season average (3.53) and doubled his season attack percentage with a .640 clip.
