The Houston Cougars survived a weather delay that drug on for hours but they also survived their match-up with the visiting Lamar Cardinals.
As is the case each week we hand out our Game Balls to our top performers. We keep the number to five each week and this week, here are our choices.
Steven Taylor - The Cougars senior leader had a dominating performance, finishing with seven tackles, and 1.5 sacks (2 tackles for loss)
Kevin Justice - The redshirt freshman took advantage of his start on Saturday, racking up 111 yards and two touchdowns on 27 carries. It was Justice's first extended playing time and should help Herman feel better about the depth behind Duke Catalon.
Tyus Bowser - Bowser spent a great deal of his time in the Cardinals' backfield as well, finishing his day with six tackles. He also had 1.5 sacks and 2.5 tackles for loss.
Mulbah Car - The true freshman also staked his claim to the carries behind starting running back Duke Catalon. Car averaged over five yards a carry Saturday, totaling 109 with his first touchdown of his career.
Kyle Postma - Postma did a great job managing the game, especially with the weird delay. He has a great skill set that seems to allow Major Applewhite the ability to not change play calls from Ward to him. Postma chewed yardage up in bunches on the ground, finishing up with 106 yards and two scores in relief of Ward.
