Recharged Cougars Ready For Tulane

The Houston Cougars were in desperate need of last week's bye week. After some healing and recharging, the Cougars are preparing for Tulane who visits this Saturday.

The Houston Cougars were not the last team in the country to get to their bye week, but there is an argument that they had the toughest path to finally hit the coveted rest time last week.

Head coach Tom Herman met with the media Tuesday and he began his opening statement by singing the praises of the healthy benefits of down time.

"It's nice to have a bye week,"he said. "Our guys are as healthy and as fresh as we have been in a long long time, which is very much needed. We were running on fumes there the last few ballgames of that stretch there in October. It was obvious that the four games in 19 days and five games in the month of September caught up to us a little bit. We needed to not only get our bodies right, but really decompress mentally and take a nice big exhale."

The Cougars are expecting to get back several key players that have either missed extended time or played while considerably beaten up. Early on, the return of key players like center Will Noble, linebacker Tyus Bowser, linebacker Matthew Adams and receiver Linell Bonner are all positive signs of the Cougars returning to full strength.
