Cougar Commits React To Coaching Change

The Houston Cougars saw their head coaching job open up Saturday and with that, the current recruiting class of 20 verbal commitments are left in limbo while they wait to see what is next

The Houston Cougars saw their head coaching position open up on Saturday with the departure of Tom Herman to the Texas Longhorns. Herman and his staff have assembled 20 verbal commitments in the 2017 recruiting class, and that means 20 young men who will look for answers before reaching a final decision on their respective futures.

The Cougars assistant coaching staff will of course have to be settled in the coming days and that will likely have an even greater actual impact on the recruiting class than Herman's departure. If any of the current assistants choose to leave as well, it will have an impact on those recruits they were responsible for. The assistant coaches are usually recruits main point of contact for committed players and the strongest relationships are usually built there.

Cougar Digest has learned that the remaining staff has in fact begun to contact the group off committed players as we too have reached out to them for comment on the situation as well as their short term and long term plan for their decisions.

As reactions begin to roll in and commits begin to make their decision we will follow along with running updates for our premium board members. For the latest recruit reactions, follow along HERE.
