Wednesday Morning Rundown

The Houston Cougars are fighting a two front battle at the moment. The search for the program's next football coach progresses as the remaining staff hits the recruiting trail.

The Houston Cougars football program is a busy group these days. While leadership works through the process of finding a new head coach, the remaining staff has puled together and are spreading out across the state to continue the job of keeping the current committed players in the recruiting class in the fold.

The search continues with a large list of initial candidates that is expected to dwindle some now moving forward. Dana Holgorsen's name continues to be an early hot one, included in our Coaching Hot Board (Get the latest version from Tuesday morning HERE), but the process is in it's early stages. There are still many high caliber names emerging, like the addition of Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables to the Hot Board yesterday morning. It should be a quick process but we are still early in that quick process.

The recruiting efforts jumped back into gear yesterday as the staff began to meet with commits and targets face to face, with less than two weeks remaining in the NCAA contact period. The Cougars have only had one de-commitments since the coaching change, will there be any more?

We cover all of this and much more in detail on our premium board this morning. Get the very latest and join the conversation now right HERE.
