Interview with Emily Fryters

"There are so many great people involved with the school and our program, and when you get everyone together it's a lot of fun. UH is a great school, with great facilities, great teachers, great students, and great coaches." - Emily Fryters

Thanks for visiting with CoogFans today. We would like to have your feedback as we prepare for the 2003-04 season.

Q. What were some of the main considerations that helped you decide on University of Houston?
I was never able to have a visit to the campus, so all my recruiting was done over the phone and by email with the coaches. The coaches and the city were the main reason why I chose Houston. The coaches just seemed like they really cared about their players, and they gave the rest of the players a good rap.

Q. Tell us a little about the style of ball and philosophies our fans will see when we come out to watch our Lady Coogs.
The fans will see us play hard for 40 minutes this year, there will be more up-tempo games. We have great shooters, great defenders, and great leapers, so the fans can expect an all round aggressive game, with some big boards and some big shots. We want to play hard and make our opponents and the rest of the country sweat.

Q. What is the major differences in our team this year when compared to last year?
We have a lot more height and I think more speed also. We also have great chemistry, best of any team I've been on before, and this will help us a lot on the court also.

Q. How do you see C-USA stacking up this year? Name the top 4 teams we will be competing against.
We are going to have a really strong conference this year. I see us leading the way though, and I think TCU, Cincinnati, and DePaul will be our toughest opponents, but we won't find out for sure until we start playing conference in January.

Q. Tell us a little about your role on the team and what you bring to the 2003 Lady Coogs Basketball Team.
I think I will be able to step on the floor when the team needs me too and bring some extra toughness and aggression to the floor.

Q. What part of your game have you worked on during the off season, and what results were you able to achieve?
I worked on my fitness and strength and my overall game, I really wanted to come back from Summer stronger, quicker, and hopefully with a better shot. I think all the hard work paid off because I feel a lot better about my game and my strength.

Q. Do you see us in a position to make a title run in C-USA? What about our chance to go to the big dance?
I definitely see as number 1 in Conference-USA, in the regular season and the tournament. We also have the team to take UH to the NCAA tournament, have far we go in that though depends on how hard we work through the season, but there are no limits.

Q. What makes you the most proud to be a University of Houston Cougar?
The fact that the University of Houston is a family. There are so many great people involved with the school and our program, and when you get everyone together it's a lot of fun. UH is a great school, with great facilities, great teachers, great students, and great coaches.

It's going to be a great year for us, and I hope you all come along for the ride, and we are going to do our best to get our team and all you fans to the big dance. Hope to see you at our games. GO COOGS!!!
