JS -What are your personal and team expectations for the 2004 season?
KK - My personal goals are really the same as the team goals. I hope to have a successful season and play in a bowl again, only this time in Memphis! Also I would really like to pick off one of the higher ranked teams and with this schedule there is going to be a good chance.
JS -Give us your perspective on the defensive changes this spring?
Are they tougher to move the ball on this year?
KK - I think that the defense has made a lot of good adjustments this spring. They seem to be a little more confident in their play and it shows on the practice field. They are giving the offense everything we want everyday!
JS -What are some of the changes and adjustments you have had to make moving from high school to D1 football?
KK - The biggest adjustment is realizing that D1 football is pretty much a job! It takes a lot of time and effort, but in the end it is all worth it. The other thing is that I have to be mentally ready for every practice, meeting, game, etc.
JS -What is your outlook for the 2004 season concerning the C-USA title chase and a chance for a bowl game?
KK - I definitely believe that we have a good shot at winning C-USA this season! I'm really excited about the newcomers to this years team. I think they will be fun to watch.
JS -What are your thoughts about the Sheridan Hawaii Bowl game, the trip and the experience?
KK - It was one of the most fun trips of my life. We couldn't have asked for a better trip. Of course, we would've liked to come out with the victory, but overall it was a good experience.
JS -Tell us a little about what it is like working with Coach Briles.
KK - Well he is the majority of the reason I came here, because I knew that he would bring winning back into this program. I think that his best quality is that he makes the players believe in him and if you have confidence in your coaches and the system you're usually going to be successful!
JS -We lose one of your favorite targets in Brandon Middleton this year, so who is going to fill in as the long threat?
KK - I think that all the receivers bring a little to the table. If your asking about the deep threat then I would have to say that Donnie Avery would be the one to step in there. He works hard and has more determination than I've ever seen.
JS -What would you like to tell CoogFans today?
KK - I would like to say thanks for all the support this year it has been overwhelming! I can't wait for the next few years they are going to be exciting!
I like that idea of picking off one of the higher ranked teams this year. That would be an excellent way to start up our title chase to a C-USA championship. Look for Kevin to have a banner year with the abundance of skill people on our offensive unit.
