I recently interviewed Kevin, who David Garvin ranked as the #2 QB in the region.
DD - What team and what individual gave you the toughest competition during your days at Stephenville?
KK - The team that gave me the most trouble in my career would have to be Crowley. Their defense is so athletic that they can stunt and be careless and that seemed to keep our entire team on our heels. Marquay Love was one of those players.
DD - What other activities/sports do you participate in currently?
KK - I don't play any other sports at this time.
DD - What hobbies or other interests do you have?
KK - I enjoy playing basketball about two to three times a week. I also like to hunt and fish a lot.
DD - How did the folks at OK State get you interested in their program?
KK - When I went to visit OK State I really liked the town and the atmosphere. It reminded me a lot of Stephenville. I also seemed to like the coaching staff and the chemistry of the team.
DD - What other programs recruited you?
KK - The other programs that recruited me were TCU, OK State, Texas Tech, Purdue, Oklahoma, and then of course Houston.
DD - Who recruited you for UH and how did that develop?
KK - Honestly, Houston really never seriously recruited me until Briles got there. Coach Briles, Montgomery, and Clements all came at the same time. Once they got started talking to me then I just got fired up about playing under those guys and made the switch.
DD - What was attractive to you about coming to Houston, the university and the city?
KK - The university was attractive to me more that the big city. The three most attractive things to me were the coaching staff, family, and already knowing the offense.
DD - How much did the hiring of Art Briles play into your decision?
KK - The hiring of Coach Briles, along with the rest of his staff, had everything to do with my switch.
DD - It must be a thrill to be part of Coach Briles' first class, how does it feel?
KK - I'm very excited about being the first recruiting class under Briles and I hope that this class along with the others can turn this program around and get it back on top.
DD - What are your current physical attributes (height, weight, 40-time, etc.)?
KK - ht:6'3"; wt:225; 40:4.71; vertical:31"
DD - Do you have anything that you would like to tell the CoogFans out there?
KK - I would like to tell all the cougar fans out there that they are in for a few surprises, along with the rest of conference USA, because Coach Briles if the best coach I've ever been around and he knows how to win. With this recruiting class and the ones to come there is no reason why we won't get this program back on top like it used to be.
Kevin, thank you for letting the CoogFans get to know a little about you and welcome to Houston Cougar football.
