THE VANDALS WERE STELLAR IN SATURDAY'S 30-7 DRUBBING OF UNLV, and two Vandals this week were honored as Players of the Week by the WAC. Senior defensive end AARON LAVARIAS was relentless throughout the game enroute to recording one sack, three tackles for loss, and a forced fumble. Sophomore kicker Trey Farquhar was 3-of-3 on field goals including a 50-yarder, and averaged 70-yards per kick off.

The following is an official press release from the University of Idaho Sports Information Department.

University of Idaho senior defensive end Aaron Lavarias and sophomore kicker Trey Farquhar were honored Monday as the Western Athletic Conference's defensive and special teams players of the week.

Lavarias earned the award after three tackles-for-loss, which includes one sack and totaled 18 yards in losses, in addition to forcing one fumble (which the Vandals recovered), recording a quarterback hurry, and tallying four tackles (three of which were solo stops).

Farquhar was good on all three of his field goal attempts, which includes a 50-yarder, and booted every kickoff into the endzone to average 70 yards per kick. His 50-yard field goal ties for the longest in the WAC this fall and 13th longest in the NCAA. It is the third longest in Idaho history.

In addition to the WAC award, Farquhar was one of three kickers nationwide to be spotlighted by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission, which annually awards the Lou Groza Award to the nation's top placekicker. He also earned honorable mention recognition from College Football Performance Awards.
