Idaho stuns #21 Utah State 64-56

WEDNESDAY NIGHT IN FRONT OF A NATIONAL ESPN2 AUDIENCE the Vandals (14-10, 7-5 WAC) took down No.21 Utah State (22-3, 11-1 WAC) by a final 64-56 margin. Idaho jumped out to an early lead to start the game and never trailed in the second half. Senior Jeff Ledbetter led Idaho with 14 points, followed by USU transfer DEREMY GEIGER's 12, and buoyed by sophomore center Kyle Barone's 12 rebounds.

With Wednesday's win 64-56 victory, Idaho maintained its 4th place standings in the Western Athletic Conference. The victory itself over Utah State was impressive, as the Vandals were poised defensively and for the most part were careful in their shot selection.

But this victory also was a statement game for Idaho in the Western Athletic Conference, as it broke Utah State's current 17-game winning streak this season, and also snapped the Aggies' WAC record 25-game conference winning streak that the Aggies had built dating back to last season.

Wednesday's win was Idaho's second win over a Top 25 team in the last two years, and Utah State was also the highest-ranked team (#17 ESPN/USA Today, #21 AP) Idaho has defeated since they defeated No. 16 Iowa in the 1982 NCAA tournament.

Next, the Vandals head to Boise to take on Boise State in another double-header between the schools, with the women tipping off at 5pm, followed by the men at 8pm.
