Vandals fall by six at BSU

JUNIOR GUARD LANDON TATUM, IN HIS FIRST SEASON AT IDAHO, had a career high 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting against Boise State Saturday night, and senior guard Jeff Ledbetter led all scorers with 19 points including hitting 6-of-8 three pointers (tied for third all-time single-season three-pointers at UI with 74). But the effort fell short in the hard fought game as Idaho lost by a 69-63 margin.

The Vandals (14-11, 7-6 WAC) fought hard Saturday night - bouncing back from two 8-point deficits - in soldout Taco Bell Arena with 12,193 fans on hand, a sizable percentage of which were there to see the silver and gold. Despite shooting 55 percent from the field and 47 percent from 3-point range, the Vandals couldn't overcome their own mistakes (led mostly by 19 turnovers), and a tough Bronco team walked away with the 69-63 victory.

With the loss, the Vandals now sit tied with Boise State for fourth in the conference with just three conference games left in the season, including road trips at Nevada (No.3 in WAC) and Utah State (No.1 in WAC, #21 AP).

But first Montana State awaits the Vandals in one week at Bozeman, Mont., as part of the ESPN BracketBusters program. That game will tip off at 6 p.m. (PST). The next WAC action for Idaho will be on Nov. 24, at Nevada.
