Spring Game Post-Game: QB Brian Reader

SENIOR QUARTERBACK BRIAN READER WON THE BATTLE for the 2011 starting job this spring, holding off redshirt sophomore Taylor Davis to take over as Idaho's field general going into fall camp. He brings substantial experience, having worked as Idaho's top backup the last two years and seeing playing time against the top teams in the WAC. Following Saturday's spring game he talked to the media.

Two years ago Brian Reader joined the Vandals, entering the program as a redshirt sophomore and immediately battling starter Nathan Enderle for starting duties in 2009. Enderle won the battle, but Reader played extensively during that Humanitarian Bowl season, starting at Boise State and in Moscow against Fresno State. He led Idaho on a come-from-behind touchdown drive for the victory at San Jose State, and proved to be a backup that could move the ball effectively.

In 2010 he had fewer opportunities to play (Enderle remained healthy all season), but Reader still took advantage of every opportunity he got by completing 59% of his passes (42-of-71) for five touchdowns and just one pick on the year.

This spring Reader, a senior, battled sophomore Taylor Davis and redshirt freshman Justin Podrabsky for starting duties, and will be Idaho's new field general for 2011.

Saturday after the Silver & Gold Spring Game Reader talked to the media about the offense's development this spring.
