Vandals beat Louisiana Tech in OT

BUOYED BY A 23 POINT PERFORMANCE ON THE ROAD AT LOUISIANA TECH by senior guard DEREMY GEIGER, including 6-of-9 shooting from long range, Idaho beat the Bulldogs 90-88 in OT for their first win in six tries in Ruston. Idaho shot a staggering 91.7% from the free-throw line, including the final 20 in a row for the win. Idaho improves to 9-8 (2-1 WAC) on the season and prepares for NMSU Saturday.

Highlights from Thursday's action (from Idaho official press release):
- Idaho went 29-of-62 (.468) from the floor and 10-of-22 (.455) from 3-point range in the game. The Vandals hit their final 20 free throw attempts in the contest and finished with a season-high 91.7 (22-24) percentage from the line.

- Idaho held a 41-30 rebounding edge, dished out 19 assists and committed 18 turnovers. The Bulldogs had 14 assists, 14 turnovers and 11 steals.

- There were career highs all around for Idaho. Senior guard Deremy Geiger led all scorers with 23 points on 7-of-14 shooting, including a 6-of-9 effort from long range. Tatum set career bests in points (20) and made (13) and attempted (15) free throws, while adding a game-high six assists and four rebounds. Sophomore Stephen Madison chipped in 18 points, four rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal.

- Vandal junior Kyle Barone, who sat on the bunch during most of Idaho's 63-59 win over Fresno State last Saturday in foul trouble, rebounded with his fifth double-double of the season. He scored 13 points on 6-of-13 shooting, pulled down a career-best 15 boards, blocked three shots, dished three assists and grabbed three steals.
