Vandals fall 21-13 at Bowling Green

IN HIS FIRST START OF THE 2012 SEASON FOR THE VANDALS, junior quarterback Dominique Blackman was effective at moving the Idaho offense as he went an impressive 30-of-37 for 352 yards, with one touchdown and an interception. But Idaho (0-2) had trouble punching it into the endzone at Bowling Green (1-1), settling for redzone field goals until Marquan Major connected with Blackman in the fourth.

In his debut as Idaho's starting quarterback, junior Dominique Blackman delivered a standout performance as he completed 30-of-37 pass attempts for 352 yards with one touchdown and one interception, despite being sacked four times. The effort would not be enough for the Vandals against Bowling Green though, as the Idaho offense stalled several times in the redzone and had to settle for for field goals instead of touchdowns in the 21-13 road loss. Newcomer Jahrie Level led Idaho with 119 yards receiving on 10 receptions, as Blackman distributed the ball to ten receivers in the game.

Defensively the Vandals were led by Gary Walker who had 10 tackles on the day for a unit that racked up four sacks (two by sophomore defensive end Maxx Forde), recovered a fumble and picked off a pass.

Next up for Idaho is a road trip to Baton Rouge to take on LSU of the SEC, with the Tigers coming off a 41-3 thrashing of Washington.
