Vandals triumph 86-84 over Weber State

SATURDAY NIGHT IN THE COWAN SPECTRUM Idaho (7-6, 2-0 Big Sky) and Weber State (5-8, 0-2 BSC) battled back-and-forth in a game that produced 19 lead changes and 18 ties. In the end, and at the half, it was senior guard MIKE SCOTT who hit clutch shots that helped the Vandals to the thrilling 86-84 victory. Up next Idaho hosts BSC leader Eastern Washington (11-4, 2-0) Saturday Jan 10th at 7pm PST.

Saturday night Idaho (7-6, 2-0 Big Sky) improved their home record to 6-1 on the season with their 86-84 victory over Weber State (5-8, 0-2 BSC), last year's Big Sky Conference champions. The Vandals were led by some clutch shooting by senior guard Mike Scott who finished with 14 points on the night and five assists. Scott hit the jumper that broke an 84-84 tie and became the game winner with 3 seconds left as Weber State's final shot at the buzzer fell short.

Earlier in the game Scott hit a 65-footer at the halftime buzzer that gave Idaho a 44-36 lead going into halftime.

Guard Sekou Wiggs led Idaho with 22 points on the night while senior Connor Hill added another 13 points for the Vandals. Off the bench, true freshman forward Arkadiy Mkrtychyan (6-7, 235) out of Columbia Christian High School (Portland, OR) added 11 points and four rebounds on the night.

Up next the Vandals host current conference leader Eastern Washington (11-4, 2-0 Big Sky) on Saturday, January 10th, with the tipoff at 7pm Pacific Time in the Cowan Spectrum.
