Steele Names Pre-Season All-SBC

IN 2014 PHIL STEELE NAMED TWO VANDALS - Mike Marboe (center) and Austin Rehkow (punter) to his All-Sun Belt preseason First Team. This year three Vandals made the First Team cut: All-American punter AUSTIN REHKOW, All-Sun Belt LB MARC MILLAN, and FBS All-Independent WR DEZMON EPPS. Steele and his staff picks a four-deep All Conference Team at each position, and eight Vandals were recognized.

It's quite the story this year for Idaho's three First Team Phil Steele pre-season honorees. For starters is Idaho's highly decorated punter Austin Rehkow who made the team for the second year in a row. This honor follows a 2014 season in which he led the nation in yards per punt (47.8), was named a Third Team AP All-American, First Team All-Sun Belt selection, and was one of three Ray Guy Award finalists. Rehkow was also recognized as a Third Team selection as a place kicker.

To add an exclamation point to Rehkow's national impact, he is the only Vandal -- and one of just two Sun Belt athletes -- named to Phil Steele's Preseason All American Team, recognized as a Third Team selection behind Utah's Tom Hackett, Alabama's J.K. Scott, and ahead of Minnesota's Peter Mortell. For the complete Phil Steele 2015 Pre-Season All-American Team, CLICK HERE

For Dezmon Epps its as much about recognizing his accomplishments in 2013 - a season in which he was named a First Team FBS All-Independent Team selection after hauling in 79 passes for 980 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 12.4 yards per reception - and the potential he brings for 2015. Epps is a game-changer who put in the work to get reinstated to the team this off-season after being suspended for the 2014 season. Epps has been a leader throughout spring drills, both statistically and how he interacts with the rest of the team, and shows the maturity and focus of a talented senior on a mission.

And for senior linebacker Marc Millan, it's his inaugural pick as a First Team selection at the FBS level. In 2013 he was named an Honorable Mention All-FBS Independent team honoree, and last year he was named an Honorable Mention All-Sun Belt Conference pick. In both 2013 and 2014 he led the University of Idaho in tackles. In 2014 he recorded 102 take downs (72 solo), 15.5 tackles for loss (including two sacks) and two quarterback hurries (No.33 nationally). The year before he finished with 91 tackles (70 solo), 11 tackles for loss and four sacks.
