The Eagles Have Landed

The Eagles lost their All-American QB from a year ago to graduation, but will be bringing in an otherwise veteran, talented team that includes senior wide receiver Joe Pierce and junior offensive tackle #71 Michael Roos (6-6, 295), both of whom earned honorable mention All-Big Sky selections. Plus, the Eagles lost just 3 starters from a formidable 2002 Big Sky defense that helped EWU defeat Montana in the season finale.

Buckle up!

For more reasons than can be listed here, Idaho would be wise not to overlook this 2003 Eagle football team. Forget that they lost 19-9 at San Diego State University last week. They are simply a veteran, talented, balanced, well-coached football team with high expectations and some success under their belt. That combination will ALWAYS pose a challenge to just about anyone.

Obviously we're biased and we believe that Idaho has the horses to handle the Eagles in the Dome, but this probably will be a battle from beginning to end. EWU wants this game, and so does Idaho. Both teams have rookie QBs, both teams have 3 returning starters on the OL, both teams have talent at the skill positions, and both teams have veteran defenses.

EWU always plays Idaho tough, and you can take it to the bank that they will play 4 quarters of good, fundamental football. Idaho showed exceptional heart and toughness last week defensively, some spark on special teams, and potential on offense. If the ENTIRE Vandal team goes into this Saturday afternoon battle knowing that the game is not over until the final whistle blows, then this should be a fun clash for the fans in the stands, and the fans throughout Washington, Oregon, Montana, Alaska and Idaho who will be watching this game LIVE on FOX Sports Northwest.
