Vandal Men & Women Both Go 1-1 Last Week

Led by Emily Faurholt (59 points the last 2 games combined), the Idaho Women (13-3, 5-2 BWC), went 1-1 at home in The Spectrum and remain among the top 3 teams in the Big West Conference.

The Men (5-11, 2-5 BWC) hit the road this week and went 1-1, including a 63-57 hard-fought overtime victory over UC Riverside on Thursday.
WOMEN'S SUMMARY: The Vandal Women have sky-rocketed to the top of the Conference, and as such can expect to get the best effort their opponents can muster. Thursday the Women overcame a slow start to throttle UC Riverside 75-59. Saturday the Women fell (their first home loss in 11 games dating back to last season) to CS Fullerton 68-65 in front of the 7th largest crowd in school history (2115). The Fullerton bench erupted when the buzzer signaled the end of the game...a year ago, the same outcome probably would have been ho-hum. Now the team can expect to get their opponent's best shot...and we think this team is capable of handling it (below is a gallery of images from last week's action at The Spectrum).

MEN'S SUMMARY: Led by an inspired Tyrone Hayes, the Vandal Men recorded a hard-fought 63-57 overtime victory at UC Riverside last Thursday. Hayes sank 23 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 37 minutes of play. Sophomore point guard Tanoris Shepard earned a starting job for the week, and turned in an 11 point performance. Against Cal State Fullerton Saturday the team had struggles, but Hayes and Shepard again led the team (17 and 10 points, respectively). The team returns home to Moscow this week for a much needed 5 game, 2 week home stand against Long Beach, UC Irvine, Idaho State, Santa Barbara, and Cal Poly.
