Vandals hike win streak

"We had people step up and make plays when plays needed to be made," Idaho coach Mike Divilbiss said.

MOSCOW -- The University of Idaho women's basketball team roared back from a pair of eight-point deficits to defeat Southern Utah 59-64 in nonconference action Thursday night.

The Vandals, winners of three straight, fell behind 12-4. But Senior Darci Pemberton and sophomore Taylor Benson dropped 3-pointers to put the Vandals back in contention, and Idaho erased another eight-point Southern Utah lead in the second half to pull itself into a 37-all tie following Benson's second 3-pointer.

"We had people step up and make plays when plays needed to be made," Idaho coach Mike Divilbiss said.

The game was tied once again at 42, but Idaho took charge and sealed the win with some crucial free throws from Pemberton, Keisha Moore, Jen Schooler and Meg LeBlanc down the stretch.

"I was very impressed with our kids' heart," Divilbiss said. "It showed a lot of character after an emotional win last night."

The Vandals beat Washington State 89-72 in overtime on Wednesday.

Pemberton led the Vandals with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Schooler provided seven points, eight rebounds and eight assists. Wynstra added 12 points and five rebounds.

Lindsey Hille paced Southern Utah with 17 points, while Kim Hemenway added 11.

Idaho, which improves to 3-4, returns to action with a home game against Montana State on Dec. 14.
