As appears to be the case with virtually all of our recruits this year (particularly the highschool recruits), all tend to excel at multiple sports and at multiple positions on the football field. Robert Davis is certainly no exception to this rule. A 2-way starter at Wide Receiver and Safety, Robert excelled at both positions and ultimately earned All-Conference honors as a wide receiver this season.
On offense (as reported in Idaho's Recruiting press release earlier this week), Davis had 60 receptions for 680 yards and 6 touchdowns…tops in the Marmonte League. Defensively, he made a truly remarkable 67 solo tackles, forced 10 fumbles and made 4 interceptions. What's probably the most remarkable aspect of these stats is the agility he displays for an athlete with a 6' - 4" frame. His mobility for such a tall athlete should ultimately be an asset at the D-1 level, whether on offense or defense.
Robert doesn't quit being an athlete when the football season ends. He's started the past 2 seasons on the varsity basketball team, and this season is among the league leaders in rebounds. In the spring he'll compete in the high hurdles and 400 meters.
He's without doubt an all-around athlete in every sense of the term, and we certainly look forward to watching this young athlete develop at Idaho.
