Recruiting Focus: DBs & LBs

Idaho brought in 4 new JC transfers to help fortify both cornerback positions next season. We also recruited a highschool safety and a highschool linebacker, both out of California. This is a quick glimpse at each.

There were 3 major areas that Head Coach Tom Cable wanted the staff to focus their efforts on recruiting this year: DL, CB and RB. This page intruduces 5 new defensive back recruits (4 JC transfer cornerbacks, and a highschool recruit at safety) and our new linebacking recruit out of Muir High School in Southern California.

This group of DBs (the cornerbacks in particular) have the potential to be a new-look defensive backfield for most Idaho fans, as 3 of the new cornerbacks stand 6-1, and the fourth is not far behind at 5-11 (the highschool safety measures in at an impressive 6-4). All four CBs have good speed, all are JC All-Conference honorees, all play the game agressively, and all could see significant playing time next season. These additions to the team, combined with a completely new defensive coaching staff, indicate a defense that should be significantly different than last year's unit which struggled all season long to defend the pass.
