SPOTLIGHT: RB Shung Peoples [MEDIA:20319]

One of 2 runningbacks signed to the Idaho roster for 2002, and among the first 4 to commit to the Vandals this year.

Player Profile: Shung Peoples
School: Long Beach City College - California
Hometown: Lakewood, CA
Height: 5-10
Weight: 182 pounds
40 Yard Dash: 4.40 seconds

In January of this year, Shung Peoples enrolled at the University of Idaho and will be practicing with the team this spring, along with our other new running back recruit Malfred Shaw. The addition of Shung to the Vandal backfield is critical this year, as it was one of 3 positions targeted by the staff as needing an infusion of depth and talent. Shung split time as a running back, and ended his career at Long Beach City College with 115 carries and 493 yards (2 touchdowns). Shung was named one of the Mission Conference's Players of the Week following a 19 carry, 105 yard performance.

Shung has good speed (clocking 4.40 seconds in the 40 yard dash), which makes him a threat coming out of the backfield on passing routes. He's also shown his versatility on the field, having returned 10 kicks during his career for 207 yards.

Given how important the running game is to Cable's offense, which last year ranked 6th nationally in total yards, Shung and the rest of the running game are sure to see plenty of action in 2002.
