Coming into this season (2001-2002), Jamil Terrell (at 6-8, easily the tallest guard we've researched) was already beginning to make a name for himself in the world of junior college basketball in Georgia, including earning an Honorable Mention on the All-Region XVII Team as a freshman. The momentum of his first season carried over to his sophomore season this year, where Jamil earned 1st Team honors on the All-Region XVII Team, and was also named to the All-Tournament Team on the heels of Coastal Georgia's Tournament Championship at the end of the season. He led the Mariners in points-per-game (#7 in region) and field goal percentage (#6 in region) this year, and was second on the team in rebounds (#7 in region). Impressive stats, just about any way you look at them.

One thing is becoming apparent in the type of young athletes Coach Perry and the staff are recruiting this year: They want athletes that are as aggressive fighting for boards as they are comfortable putting points on the scoreboard. Jamil's excellent mix of height, shooting prowess, and his nose for the ball all add up to a recruit that could see significant minutes on the floor next season.
