The Gargoyle Gazette

The annual Silver & Gold football game is just a week away! Unlike in years past, both the Tom Cable Golf Tournament and the S&G Game will be ON SATURDAY, not Friday.

The team has wrapped up its third week of practice and is preparing to wrap up spring drills this week. The offense has been impressive, and its depth is beginning to show. Spring's also been an opportunity to see that our running back situation, with the possibility of senior Blair Lewis being unable to return this fall, is not as dire as once thought. Quite the opposite, actually. Spring has also been an opportunity to see what is in store from the defensive side of the ball. Idaho will be calling on a number of younsters to step-up into starting roles this fall, and this has been a much needed opportunity to learn new Defensive Coordinator Ed Lamb's system. There has been a noticable improvement in the team's performance throughout spring drills, and Saturday should be a great opportunity to preview Idaho's 2002 football team.

Below are details for Golf Tournament (the Silver and Gold Game kicks off at 7:30).

VSF Calendar: We're starting to wrap up the VSF events calendars for each of the different regions of Idaho and throughout the Northwest. Check your region in the left hand margin for a calendar of events in your area for this year. As the events get closer to happening, we'll post the details. Also, as a reminder, the Ada County Calcutta at The Grove (Friday, May 3) and Ada County Golf Tournament at Quail Hollow (Saturday, May 4) are coming up soon. Both are outstanding events, so plan on attending!

Baskeball Recruiting Database: We've updated the database with the new recruits, and are working on a write-up for Ronnie Smith, and are working on photos for both Dwayne Williams and Ronnie. As requested, we've also added where our other recruits have signed this recruiting season.

Idaho 2002 football recruit Geoff Zuber of Gold Beach, Oregon was named to the All-Big Fir League's Second Team for basketball. At 6-4, 280 pounds, we think this agile, big, young athlete is going to be an excellent addition to our defensive line.
