In the first half the Vandal defense put up a resiliant effort giving up just 17 points, while the Idaho offense struggled throughout the half and was held scoreless. Statistically, Oregon State gained 172 yards of total offense while Idaho struggled to gain just 65 yards. Idaho quarterback STEVE WICHMAN completed just 4 passes in 15 attempts with three interceptions.

Idaho star linebacker David Vobora had another solid game and was the leader of an Idaho defense that kept Idaho in the game throughout the first half despite 3 interceptions and a fumble by the Idaho offense.

Senior defensive end Charles Campbell led a tough Idaho defensive line stand after giving up two first quarter TDs to the Beavers.

Steve Wichman completed just 4 passes in 15 attempts with three interceptions in the first half.

Running lanes were clogged throughout the firsts half, but junior Brian Flowers was able to gain 37 yards on 7 carries with a long of 18 yards.

True freshman athlete Raymond Fry got a little first half action, including two kick returns for 35 yards and a long of 20 yards.
