Vandal basketball loses two players

The Vandal men's and women's basketball teams each lost one player this past week. Junior post Jessica Summers left the women's team, while junior guard MARIO MACKEY left the men's squad.

An article written by Dale Grummert of the Lewiston Tribune Saturday said Jessica Summers had left the squad for personal reasons not related to any dissatisfaction with team members or any recent Vandal games. She is reportedly planning to continue her studies in education at Idaho.

After Saturday's game, Vandal coach Mike Divilbiss said, "She'll be missed. There's no question. Jessica's a good girl. I love Jessica to death on and off the floor I love her. I'll always love her. I care about her deeply. We were all disappointed. It's sad…"

On the Men's side, head coach George Pfeifer said he and junior guard Mario Mackey had talked Saturday. "We both came to the conclusion that this wasn't the right fit for him; we talked about it today. Before we left Idaho State I said `You need to think about it, I need to think about it.' We came back and met today. We both came to the conclusion this wasn't the best situation for us, and so we want to move on."
