BREAKING: Showstopper 'ready to win' at Idaho

IT'S ABOUT WINNING. That was the word from one of the official visitors who just returned from Idaho this weekend. He had been ready to commit to the Vandals but before pulling the trigger, wanted to make certain of one thing - that Idaho was just as committed to winning. What he saw and felt on his trip, he said, was both convincing and evident of that same winning attitude, and at every turn.

Preston Davis is a Vandal.

"It went perfect actually," said Davis (6.2, 195, 4.58) of the weekend in Moscow. "I ended up committing.

"I can't wait to be part of the family -- and I feel like I already was when I was there."

Davis, out of Shadow Ridge High in Las Vegas, said the sense of winning and togetherness at Idaho was what sold him.

"Remember how I (said) I want to feel I can win? Well, that's what it was," said Davis. "Yes, they went 1-11 last year, but a lot of things have changed. I feel like they're on the right track right now, and I want to be part of that.

"It was everybody. It wasn't, 'Oh don't worry we're going to be better next year' or anything like that. it was almost just understood between everybody, between all the coaches, between all the players, that they're going to win. It didn't feel fake either, it feels like we're all just ready to win."

Davis gave the good news to head man Robb Akey earlier today after talking it over with his mom. He got a 'bubba' back in return.

"I told him how I felt, and I talked to my mom about it," laughed Davis. "...and I told him, 'Yes, I'll see you next summer.' He said 'Good to hear it bubba!'"

DAVIS THIS PAST WEEK at the Shadow Ridge Awards Banquet earned the team's top receiver award and was also named Class 4A first team All-Sunset Region plus first team All-Northwest Division.

Davis moved to linebacker this year, and Shadow Ridge played the wing-t on offense, but he still managed to rack up 36 receptions for 644 yards with seven TDs his senior campaign.
