Vandal Outdoor Tennis Courts UPDATED

Idaho Athletics Director Rob Spear continues facility improvements on the Idaho campus. "The completion of the four Admin Lawn courts and the soon to be started project to upgrade the Memorial Gym courts are a huge boost to our tennis program," Idaho Coach Jeff Beaman said. "This will not only benefit our program but will also be an asset to the Moscow and surrounding area tennis communities."

Below is an official press release issued by the University of Idaho describing recently renovated outdoor tennis courts on the Idaho campus. The resurfaced courts will have an immediate and significant impact on the Vandal tennis program, doubling the number of courts available for practice and dual play.

The upgrade also improves court availability for intramurals, and use by Idaho students, faculty, and staff.

MOSCOW, Idaho – The University of Idaho tennis program is taking a gigantic step forward with renovations and upgrades to the outdoor tennis courts on campus. This past week construction was completed on the four Administration Lawn courts, while renovations will begin next week on the six Memorial Gym courts.

Before the current renovations, the men's and women's tennis teams were only able to play competitive matches on three of the 10 outdoor courts on campus. The University completely resurfaced the four courts on the Administration Lawn which are now available for dual match play.

"They really did a great job, not only on the playing surface, but by putting in four very attractive courts in the picturesque Administration Lawn setting," Beaman said.

Construction to upgrade and resurface the six courts outside Memorial Gym is scheduled to begin in the first part of June with a target completion date in the beginning of August.

"Going from three playable courts to 10 for the upcoming season gives us the ability to host home matches, WAC events and fall tournaments in the future," Beaman said. "Ten courts will also have the benefit of running more effective team practices, providing upgrades facilities for HPERD classes, intramurals and use by Idaho students, faculty and staff."

The upgrades to the outdoor courts are just another example of the increased commitment to high quality facilities by the Idaho administration and athletic department.

"I would especially like to thank Rob Spear for his role in getting these courts done," Beaman said. "This project, along with the Kibbie Dome renovations and the many other things happening now and on the near horizon, are making Idaho athletics into a premier athletic program."
