Honorees for ASU Game

Idaho's came up short against ASU last weekend, but there were several standout performances that deserve extra recognition.

Honorable Mention:
Jordan Kramer
, 6-2, 235, Senior, Strongside Linebacker
Jordan has been the man all year, and it continued again Saturday night. Against the Aggies, Jordan had 13 tackles, including 10 solo tackles and 1 tackle for loss. He remains a fixture at the top of the Sun Belt tackle chart, and is the leader, at least by example, for our defense.

Blair Lewis, 5-11, 216, Senior, Runningback
Blair is one of the emotional leaders on offense, and on Saturday his game was on. He rushed for over 100 yards on 20 carries, averaging 5.1 yards per rush and scoring 2 touchdowns. He also led the team through the air, rumbling 51 yards on 4 catches, with a long of 38 yards. This season Blair has rushed for 840 yards, and leads the conference in touchdowns scored per game.

Rod Bryant, 6-1, 185, Junior, Cornerback
In a season where our defensive backfield has taken alot of heat, Rod has been one of the best performers on the team. However, it was his exhilerating 86 yard punt return for a touchdown in the 3rd quarter that put his stamp on the game (it was the first kick returned for a TD by Idaho in a long, long time). For the season he has 2 interceptions, 45 tackles, and leads the team with 6 pass break-ups. Having him in the backfield has been an asset this year, and is a definite bright spot going into next season.

Adam Mallette, 6-2, 221, Sophomore, Quarterback
In his most significant playing time in his young career, Adam came into the game Saturday and played admirably. In the first half, he played the first quarter, while redshirt freshman Michael Harrington played the second quarter. Adam's performance earned him the ability to play the entire second half, and he almost led us to the come-from-behind win. Down 31-3, he led the team into the endzone 3 times and twice into fieldgoal range, completing 14 of 26 passes for 162 yards and 1 touchdown. It was a solid effort, especially considering he didn't play in the second quarter, and the deficit the team had to make up in the second half.

The Cyber Game Ball Winner:
Mike Anderson
, 6-2, 235, Redshirt Freshman, Linebacker
Against Arkansas State, Mike started for the Vandals at Weakside Linebacker, making his first start of the season for Idaho. He would go on to record 7 tackles in the game, including 5 solo take downs. This honor, however, is as much about what Mike has done this year as a redshirt freshman, as it is what he did last weekend. On the season, Mike is 3rd on the team in tackles with 53, and has done this coming off the bench in Idaho's 6-man linebacker rotation (Mike backs up senior Jordan Kramer, the team leader in tackles). He has 7 tackles for loss (4th on the team), 2 sacks, and 1 pass break-up. In short, Mike has had an excellent freshman season, and is one player we very much look forward to watching in the years ahead.
