Flirtin' with .500

The Idaho Men split their home stand this week, going 1-1 in Big West Conference play to bring their season mark to 6-7 BWC, 10-12 Overall. Junior guard <b>Dwayne Williams</b> led the Vandals with 22.5 points per game over the last two matchups. The Idaho Women went .500 on the road in California, including an impressive victory over 2nd place Long Beach State. The Women's season mark now stands at 5-7 BWC, 7-15 Overall.

MEN'S SUMMARY
The Idaho Men jumped out to an impressive home win Thursday night, pounding Long Beach State 75-67 at the Cowan Spectrum. Junior guard Dwayne Williams carried the day with 30 points and solid play at both ends of the court. The young team had a let-down Saturday however, falling to 2nd place UC Irvine 52-65 after taking a 30-29 lead at the half. Dwayne again led the Vandals with 15 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists.

This week the Vandals hit the road for games against teams currently below them in the standings. They start at UC Riverside (5-7 BWC, 7-15) on Feb 20th, then end up at Cal State Fullerton (6-3 BWC, 9-10) on Saturday, Feb 22nd.

WOMEN'S SUMMARY
The Vandal Women knocked off a major nemesis Saturday night, earning their first-ever road win at Long Beach State, 55-48. The young Vandals snapped an 8 game losing streak to the 49ers in the process. The leading scorer for the Vandals, junior Alyssa Erickson was out with an injury, but true freshman Toni Kinsey played admirably, logging 40 minutes, going 1-4 behind the 3 point arc, with 2 assists and grabbing 3 rebounds. True freshman forward Autumn Fielding had another impressive night, leading all scorers with 24 points (hitting 4 three pointers), 11 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.

This week the Women (currently 6th in the Conference) head home to take on the 2 teams currently directly behind them in the standings. UC Riverside (3-8 BWC, 6-16 Overall) visits the Cowan Spectrum on Thursday night, and then Cal State Fullerton (4-7 BWC, 6-16 Overall) comes to town on Saturday. If you haven't had a chance to catch Idaho's rebuilding Women's team, this would be a great weekend to cheer them on to victory.
