Signing Day Stunner: Forde Goes Silver & Gold

IT HAPPENS EVERY YEAR, a signed LOI is received at colleges around the country from players believed (at least on recruiting sites) to be going elsewhere. Idaho has been on both sides of the coin in the past. This year Idaho was on the receiving end, receiving an LOI from Woodinville star lineman MAXX FORDE (ranked the No.90 DE by Scout), previously a Washington State commit and Cougar legacy.

It is official. has confirmed that the LOI has been received, and will be following up with Woodinville (Wash.) High School star lineman Maxx Forde, a long-time verbal commitment to Washington State and the son of Cougar star linebacker Brian Forde, about his signing day decision to instead sign with the University of Idaho. Needless to say, this is a change that few (at least within saw coming, and the Vandals gain an athlete of exceptional caliber.

Forde is currently ranked by as the No.90 defensive end prospect in the country. At 6-4, 240-pounds he is a specimen that physically has the potential to play early at Idaho. This season he was named to the Seattle Times and the Tacoma News Tribune All-State teams for all classifications. He was also named one of just 18 "Red Chip" prospects in the state of Washington by the Seattle Times, and he's rated the No.40 prospect in the Northwest Region (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Alaska, Hawaii, Utah, and Montana) by for all classifications.

Forde's other scholarship offers this year reportedly include Washington State, Wyoming, and Army.
