Demetrius Rudd, a 6-foot, 230-pound, bruising fullback from Harvey (Ill.) Thornton will be one of the most sought after prospects in the Midwest for the 2003 season.
Rudd transferred to Thornton from Chicago's Mt. Carmel High School. In 2002, Rudd missed a good part of the season with high blood pressure but still managed 700 yards rushing and 10 touchdowns for the year.
I had the chance to see Rudd play in person last year and to say he was impressive was an understatement. On one play, Demetrius took the ball on a dive, blew past the linebackers and the secondary for a 75-yard touchdown run.
We asked Demetrius Rudd if he had scholarship offers?
"I have offers from Illinois, Northwestern and Northern Illinois. My top schools right now are Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, Northern Illinois, Michigan and although I'm pretty sure I want to stay close to home, I'd put Miami (Fla.) up there.
"Illinois and Iowa are my top two right now. Northwestern wants me to play fullback, Illinois want me to play tail(back) and everyone else, its kind of back and forth between those positions."
Demetrius Rudd also letters in baseball.
